Sweet sixteen

Tayla turned 16 on Tuesday this week and what a celebration it was! She had some of her friends came around for dinner on Monday night and they had a blast. Johan made some of his famous giant hamburger patties and cooked them on the braai (barbecue) accompanied with lots of bacon, cheese and all the other burger yummies.

Simone baked a cake to die for with lots of chocolate bits inside and oozing with caramel. It was Tayla's idea to have the pink icing!
It was fantastic to see her so happy as she seems to have found a group of people that are genuine, sincere friends and they have been together as a group for about two years now.
When I look at her, I can’t believe she was this little girl just a short while ago.
I don’t think there is anything more satisfying than watching your kids grow and develop into beautiful young adults. It is worth all the scars on your heart that it took to get them there. I love what New Zealand has meant to our family and it is as if everyone has found their feet and are happy.

Welcome to my new blog

Dear All

It's been ages since I have regaled you with tales of the Nienhuis-Styles family affairs! I have designed a new blog to make things a little faster (my emails tend to be slower than snail mail!). Enjoy.
